Vancouver Coastal Health (through Fraser Health’s LMFM) contracted Cornerstone to complete a Clinical Delivery Services Plan and Detailed Functional Program for the Lions Gate Hospital new Acute Care Facility. The new facility will consist of inpatient beds, new operating rooms, procedure rooms, and prep/recovery spaces as part of a new Perioperative Services floor, and a new Medical Device Reprocessing Department supporting the entire campus. The facility program also included requirements for Facilities Maintenance and Operations, and preliminary requirements for various Entry Level retail and support services including teleheatlh opportunities.

Process
The Cornerstone team led nearly 40 user group interviews with teams to further develop concepts from the High Level Functional Program, including introducing new innovative ideas and workflows, and making best practice recommendations. The team also ran a workshop, focusing on required flows (high risk and high frequency) between the new and existing facilities.
Solution
Cornerstone provided a Clinical Service Delivery Plan and Detailed Functional Program on time, including room by room space list, flow analysis, and list of large equipment. The final document received many levels of detailed input and feedback from users and has guided the design and procurement teams for the New Acute Care Facility. Cornerstone reviewed schematics with the architecture team and made detailed recommendations.
