In 1998, the Townships of Galway-Cavendish and Harvey amalgamated, becoming the Municipality of Trent Lakes incorporating all previous township assets. Resulting, Trent Lakes has under its jurisdiction many repeat and aging facilities in need of renewal. Before investing into facilities, the Municipality was interested in assessing residential need and facility suitability to understand long-term needs.
Background
Process
Cornerstone examined current and future facility space needs and required capital investment over a 20-year horizon to develop data driven recommendations for the relocation, expansion, and/or amalgamation of facilities to best facilitate the municipality’s delivery of services.
The study resulted in the first long-term prioritized plan for Municipal facilities including municipal office, fire stations, community halls, public works depots, waste transfer stations and other municipally owned buildings.
Solution
Excluding the amalgamation of three public works sites, the project recommendations were unanimously accepted by Council and is informing Municipal investment until 2040.
