Background: Zero Emissions Energy Developments (ZED) is a BC-based renewable energy company, established to develop 15 to 100 Megawatt wind power generation plants. Cornerstone was retained by ZED to provide consultation and communications services on five wind power projects under development in BC. The projects needed to consult local stakeholders; and establish Development Plans to acquire General Area Licenses of Occupation, all under the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations.
Our Solution: Cornerstone directed all aspects of a condensed consultation and communications program, using suitably scaled activities (e.g. open houses, media strategy) and taking advantage of the economies of scale presented by multiple 15-MW projects.
Results: Cornerstone designed engagement and communications activities that met the requirements of the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations and BC Hydro under their Standing Offer program. Three of the ZED Projects received their General Area License of Occupation and are continuing their development. Cornerstone continues to work to monitor issues regarding the projects and provides ongoing engagement and communications services.
