Background: Cornerstone developed and is implementing a public consultation communications program for Pacific Northern Gas’ 500-km proposed natural gas pipeline project to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, in Kitimat, B.C. The project requires an Environmental Assessment Certificate, under the B.C. Environmental Assessment Act.
Our Solution: The consultation and communications activities Cornerstone developed were designed to meet the requirements of provincial and potential federal environmental assessment legislation. Cornerstone has facilitated 7 public events along the route and coordinated advertising, communication materials and issues management.
Results: The B.C. Environmental Assessment Office approved PNG’s Public Consultation Plan and issued Draft Information Application Requirements following a public comment period. Cornerstone continues to plan consultation and communications activities for PNG as it prepares to file an Application for Environmental Assessment Certificate with the Province.
